Sex and the Stars

Gemini Season

All you need to know about Gemini season: queering sex and astrology

Gemini season arrives (May 21 to June 21) blowing the windows wide open. Restless, electric, contradictory and entirely at home in that.

Mercury, aka Hermes, the non-binary trickster god of communication, rules this sign. The message has been drafted. It’s time to send it.

Uranus in Gemini: the conductor

Uranus moved into Gemini in late April. The disruptor has entered the chat, and for our Gemini babies, this is your moment. Gemini is curiosity as a life force. The sign that wants to know everything, say everything, be in two places at once.

Its tarot card is The Lovers, and in a queer reading that was never just about romance. It’s about choice.

Queerness can be a permission slip to build something entirely your own: life partners, ethical non-monogamy, kinky play partners, situationships, or something you haven’t named yet.

Whatever form it takes, the relationship is everything. And what holds it together is how we speak inside it.

Uranus is the planet of lightning. Of the desire that arrives suddenly, the friendship that becomes something else. It strikes when you least expect it. What wants to be said audaciously, unapologetically, out loud? Consent with partners about what you want, inviting in someone new, revisiting that ‘what are we doing’ chat.

Mercury rules this sign, and Mercury rules the message.

Let’s unpack…

Mercury meets Uranus in Gemini (18 May). The trickster comes home and runs straight into the disruptor. If you’ve been holding back a desire, this is the window. Cuffing season is just around the corner. The sentence doesn’t have to be polished. Send it.

Uranus cazimi (23 May). When Uranus sits at the heart of the Sun, something gets transmitted. A flash. A frequency. A realisation that moves through the body before the mind has caught up. This is the first Uranus cazimi in Gemini in 84 years. Don’t overthink it. The body receives the seed before the mind knows what’s been planted.

Mars square Pluto Rx (26 May). Cast your mind back to late January: this is the next chapter. Power dynamics surface, in your relationships and in the parts of yourself that are tired of negotiating for the bare minimum. This is not the transit for grinding through. It is the transit for asking why you’ve been pushing that boulder.

Venus conjunct Jupiter in Cancer (10 June). The exhale. Soft, tender, unguarded. Feel into what you need, not what’s fleeting, what feels like home. Give yourself permission to be witnessed, vulnerability is the turn on.

Gemini and your body: regulating your way to pleasure

Gemini rules the lungs, the shoulders, the arms, the hands and the nervous system. The body’s communication network. The systems that carry information, sensation and breath from one place to another.

The hands. The most articulate, queerest sex organ.

Hands gesture, hands sign, hands type the message at 2am, hands fuck.

And then, breath. Feel how it moves through the body, where it catches, where it opens. A shared breath between two people, foreheads close, inhaling each other: that’s intimacy before a single word is spoken.

The gasp. The moan that rides an exhale.

You can get yourself wet, or hard, or open, through breath alone. You can also make yourself cry. Or laugh, the great releaser of everything the body’s been holding.

The lungs. The engine of breath, voice, life. For LGBTQ+ communities, worth every bit of care. Smoking rates are higher in our communities, linked to stress, stigma and the social environments we’ve navigated. If you smoke and want support to quit, start here and if you’re over 50 with a smoking history, lung cancer screening is worth knowing about.

And the nervous system holds it all together. Reminding the mind to check in, to take a moment, to breathe.
